Ubuntu Linux In Windows - Using The Wubi (Windows-Based Ubuntu Installer) For Ubuntu Linux
There are a few ways of getting Ubuntu Linux and Windows to work together and one of the best methods is by using the Wubi (Windows-based Ubuntu Installer).
The Wubi (Windows-Based Ubuntu Installer) For Ubuntu Linux
The Wubi (Windows-based Ubuntu Installer) is free and open source software (FOSS) that runs from within Windows and is used to install Ubuntu Linux on an existing Windows system.
When you use the Wubi, you start Windows, and then run the Wubi (from the Ubuntu Linux CD, or directly from download) and install Ubuntu Linux inside of Windows, in the same way as you
install any application software program in Windows.
And here's one of the great benefits of the Wubi - You can also uninstall Ubuntu Linux in the same way as you uninstall any Windows program.
You can install Ubuntu Linux - in Windows - from the Ubuntu Linux CD by using the Wubi.
Alternatively, you can install Ubuntu Linux on an existing Windows system by using the Wubi without using the Ubuntu Linux CD - by downloading the Wubi .exe (program file) and running this Wubi .exe file to install Ubuntu Linux directly into your Windows system - via download over the Internet!
With this method, you don't need to download and burn Ubuntu Linux to CD or get an Ubuntu Linux CD.
Ubuntu Linux Training Tips: Another good alternative to use for getting Ubuntu Linux running on a system, is to use the Ubuntu Linux "live" CD. But by default, you can't save any data or save any changes you've made to the system.
When you use the Wubi to install Ubuntu Linux on existing Windows system, you get a fully functional Ubuntu Linux system (that may be slightly slower than a dual-boot system) but everything works and you don't need to modify any Windows hard disk settings!
The Wubi (Windows-based Ubuntu Installer) is a fantastic breakthrough for Ubuntu Linux!
