Ubuntu Linux In Windows - Ubuntu Linux Virtual Machine Benefits - Linux Training Online
One of the nice benefits of running Ubuntu Linux, or any distribution of Linux, in a virtual machine in Windows, is that you still have easy access to all of your Windows programs and data files - without having to reboot your system (as you would have to do with a dual-boot system).
When you use a virtual machine program in Windows to run Linux, then Linux runs in
a program window, in Windows!
And you can switch from this Linux virtual machine window to any other window, such as a window that's running the Excel spreadsheet program. And you can also do anything else that you can do with a program window in Windows, such as minimize it or close it.
Ubuntu Linux Training Tips: Using a virtual machine to run Ubuntu Linux from within Windows can be an excellent alternative to creating a dual-boot Windows / Ubuntu Linux system (not recommended).
The "Linux Admin & Commands" video tutorial training shows how to download and install a virtual machine and run Linux in Windows!

Ubuntu Linux Training Tips: Other methods of getting Ubuntu Linux up and running are to: use the Wubi (Windows-based Ubuntu Installer) - or - use the Ubuntu Linux "live" CD. However, when you use the Ubuntu Linux "live" CD, by default, you can't save any data or save any changes you've made to the system.
