Learning More About Ubuntu Linux and the Ubuntu Linux "Promise"
Here is another one of the four points of the Ubuntu Linux promise:
Ubuntu Linux Promise #2. Ubuntu comes with full commercial support from Canonical and hundreds of companies around the world.
No one owns Linux or the thousands of open source a software components that are put together to make up a Linux distribution. Having a computer operating system as great as Ubuntu Linux is wonderful, but you also need
someone that you can turn to when things go wrong.
Due to the free (as in no charge) nature of Linux and all of the open source Linux software components that go into a Linux distribution, one of the hardest things to get for any distribution of Linux is "commercial" (paid) technical support.
Many organizations and people need to be able to get good quality, reasonably priced, and reliable technical support - not just by email or a technical support forum, but more importantly by phone or by a technician going on site.
Technical support by email is usually very slow and tedious - and technical support by using a Linux forum can be useful, but is also slow and there's no guarantee of the quality of the information you're getting.
There are so many Linux distributions that are so similar in many ways, and yet there are also so many ways for Linux to "not work".
Ubuntu Linux Training Tips: One of the Ubuntu Linux mottos is "it just works" - and in many cases this is true. However, when it doesn't work there are lots of companies and corporations that are willing to pay for technical support services and Ubuntu Linux is well covered in this area.
