After this, select the "Ubuntu Linux" option again and this will start the fully functional version of Ubuntu Linux (and the Ubuntu Linux OS, and all it's software components, are actually located in a folder on your Windows system).

Once you're at the Ubuntu Linux (GNOME) desktop, you can do everything you would normally be able to do in Ubuntu Linux, including creating folders (directories), creating data files with Ubuntu Linux software programs, modifying your system settings and creating new users (if necessary).

Ubuntu Linux training Tips: When you install Ubuntu Linux using the Wubi Installer, you can either boot into Windows or boot into Ubuntu Linux. You can't use both operating systems at the same time - whereas you can if you use a virtual machine (such as VMware or Virtual Box) to run Linux in Windows.

Keep this in mind after using the Wubi Installer: When you choose to boot into Ubuntu (instead of booting into Windows), you don't have access to the Windows operating system and can't run any of your Windows software programs - and after using the Wubi Installer you can only run one operating system (either Windows or Linux) at a time.

However, you still have access your Windows data files after booting into Ubuntu Linux. The Windows partition on which you installed Ubuntu Linux (typically your Windows drive C:) is in the /host folder (directory) and if you have any other Windows partitions, such as hard disk drives named D:, E: and so on (that are not CD, DVD, USB, or other drive types) they are in /media.

download a Linux ISO file

burn the Linux ISO file to a Linux CD

run the Ubuntu Linux installation routine

All of the "download, burn, setup, and so on" steps listed above will be described shortly in upcoming sections.
